E-Books and Audiobooks
Downloadable Fiction and Non-Fiction:
We now offer digital books through Freading. Those are e-books that you can transfer to your e-book reader, or download directly onto your phone or pad. If this is your first time, please read the directions first.
These are books that you play on an Internet connected device. You do not download them, there is no checkout period. Play whatever you want as often as you want.
Reference, Travel, and "How-To" Books:
For children, or adults who still like to have fun. Picture books with narration, many in Spanish or French, some with a bit of animation. You will see a box in the upper right where you can choose your language. Games, puzzles, quizes. Do not miss John Lithgow's I Got Two Dogs.
- StarWalk KidsMedia
Fiction and non-fiction from favorite children's book authors.
Tumblebookcloud For older children, ESOL students, and lovers of classics. Some are text only, others audio only, and a third group mixes both together.
- Infobase Collection Over 3,000 basic information books for students from middle school through high school.
Audiobookcloud (mostly for adults) Straight streaming audio in a fantastic collection. Many of the books are Blackstone or Naxos, and feature superb readers.
And we have many other e-books scattered about in various collections, some for adults and some for children. These books can be great fun as well as full of useful information, and you don't have to sit in a library to read them.
Several hundred reference and non-fiction guides from Gale, Scribner, Macmillan and other publishers are collected together. Each article, or chapter, can be downloaded as either text or mp3 and you can download many articles in a single session. Our online DK Eyewitness collection for children is also here, as are the Eyewitness Travel Guides and the For Dummies series..
